Description of Class

Visual poetry - a process of deep play Visual poetry combines visual art and written or spoken language. It's a fun way to mix text, images, and symbols to convey meaning. Building on skills and ideas taught in visual poetry 1 (7th March), Bid will introduce some more techniques to play with and explore. The focus for this workshop will be writing but writing unlike anything you have done before. We will take words and manipulate them in various ways to create surprising outcomes. We will, cut-up, delete, repeat, overwrite and abstract. Making poetry through constraint, manipulation, erasure and, most importantly of all, play!' Your tutor: Richard Biddle aka (Bid) is a visual artist and poet whose work has been published in numerous journals and anthologies online and in print. His chapbook of visual poetry ‘Messages From Elsewhere – An Alien Graffiti’ was published by Timglaset . His book of visual poetry ‘Consciousness’ was published by Penteract Press. Testimonies - What did you enjoy about the workshop ? :- 'Teacher, brilliant. Let's you have space, relaxed, interesting - Happy Day', Ella Brighton 'The space to have a play and experiment with guidance' Laura Brighton 'Free play, resources, gentle guidance, space and time.' Sarah Beeding 'Everything. Lots of wonderful ideas.' Lin Hove 'Very well taught, interesting and wide range of Materials.' Justine Brighton
