Experimental Weaving Workshop
Saturday 24 October, 10.30am to 3.30pm, £68 Full / £56 Conc
Description of Class
Learn simple weaving techniques and explore texture and colour to create your own unique mini-weaving. Different yarns and materials will be available to experiment with. You will learn to set up and weave on small frame looms. This workshop is suitable for beginner weavers and those with some experience. Weaving has been used to create wall-hangings and other art work from ancient times. Contemporary tapestry weaving is a great medium for personal expression and can even be used for 3D sculptural pieces. Explore weaving in a freer way than with traditional tapestry techniques. If you wish to continue at home, frame looms may be purchased from the tutor (optional) and additional yarns will be available. Tutor Jackie teaches weaving as an art form, exhibits and undertakes commissions internationally. She has been weaving for over 30 years and teaching for 20 years. www.jackietapestry.com All materials and instructions will be provided. Frames will be available to buy if you wish to take one home. There will be a break for lunch. Location: Brighton Buddhist Centre "Nice ambiance and friendly group. Jackie is a brilliant instructor." Paul, Brighton "Expert teaching and knowledge. Patient and calm. Great range of materials. Thank you for a lovely workshop". Beth, Surrey
