Description of Class
What do travel writing, journey memoirs, and sci-fi/fantasy novels have in common? Conjuring a world that draws the reader in is the answer! Whether fiction or non-fiction, naturalistic or fantastical, the common ground is a heightened sense of place. This one-day workshop will help you to explore how you can conjure worlds, from your memory or your imagination, nurturing and developing your ability for descriptive and evocative writing that explores landscapes (real and imaginary)– whether sprawling cities or the natural world. Drawing on both fiction and non-fiction, we’ll look at interesting examples of writers with a great sense of place. The workshop is open to fiction and non-fiction writers, or would-be-writers, of all levels of experience. Everyone is welcome!
