Description of Class

Conscious dance is an opportunity to practice presence, connect with body and mind, and express yourself freely and creatively through movement. We begin with a short opening circle and guided warm up inspired by Yoga, Dance, Qi Gong and embodiment practices, followed by a mix of guided and free movement. Together we explore energy, freedom, confidence, taking up space, and the elemental qualities of water, fire, earth and air. Music will vary in rhythm, style and tempo, offering space to dance alone or connect with others if you wish. No dance experience is needed — only openness and curiosity. The practice encourages self-care, kindness, compassion and the courage to fully be yourself. It can support physical strength and expression, nervous system regulation, emotional release, meditation and positive change in daily life. We close with relaxation, meditation and an optional sharing circle. This will be a mobile phone free space to support deeper presence and connection. Vidyadasa (Ady Griffiths) Vidyadasa is a movement and embodiment facilitator with many years of experience holding conscious practice spaces, Yoga, movement and meditation classes, workshops and retreats. His work blends conscious dance, Yoga, Qi Gong, meditation and embodiment practices to support freedom, creativity, presence and connection. With a lifelong passion for music and movement — from street and breakdancing, rave culture and contemporary dance to carnival, conscious and ecstatic dance — Vidyadasa encourages people to explore the connection between body, mind and emotion through movement. His facilitation combines guided movement, improvisation, somatic awareness and free expression in inclusive spaces grounded in kindness and compassion. He holds a BA (Hons) in Dance & Visual Arts Performance and has worked as a freelance performer and artist in festivals, parades and carnivals. He is now returning to offering conscious dance as a regular practice. He is ordained as a Buddhist in the Triratna Buddhist Order.
