Creative Writing Intermediate Course

Tutor: Jac Cattaneo
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next start date: Wednesday 22 April 2020

“Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people, citizens of distant epochs, who never knew one another. Books break the shackles of time--proof that humans can work magic." - Carl Sagan

Do you love writing?  This six-week course is designed for storytellers, fiction writers and poets who would like to develop their practice in a nurturing environment.  Topics covered will include developing well-rounded characters, point-of-view, the use of imagery in poetry and prose, evoking a sense of place and creative non-fiction. The focus will be on experimenting with new ideas, informed by the work of published writers, visual art, and the unique surroundings of Brighton and the South Coast.

Both creative writing courses are participatory. We’ll do inspiring writing exercises in class, and (optional) homework will be set. During the second half of each session, you’ll be invited to share your writing if you would like to. We are very much focused on creating a safe, inclusive space to read, share and talk.
