Description of Class

There is a concession available for this course for people: Under 25, over 65 or in full time unemployment. Mindfulness is a natural way of being, that we might experience when aware and deeply absorbed in the present moment, for example singing, being in nature, listening to music, being creative or playing sport. Mantra & meditation offer us ways to develop mindfulness through connection with our hearts and our mind. Singing mantras can quiet the chatter of our busy minds and bring us more into stillness and spaciousness. Singing mantras and meditation can ‘water the seeds' of heart qualities such as love, compassion, kindness and joy and help us to be more present in the here and now. In singing a mantra to Green Tara we can connect with her compassion and in singing the Peace Prayer we can radiate the wish for all beings to be happy. As mantras are repetitive they are easily learnt. Each mantra will be introduced with a short explanation and will be accompanied by the harmonium. The workshop includes a guided meditation. You are welcome to attend, whatever your experience! Your tutor: Sasha shares her practice of chanting Buddhist mantras she has learnt over the past 20 years, as well as some that she has composed herself. She is a qualified Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy teacher and completed a Meditation Teacher Training with Martin Aylward in 2021. More information about mantra and meditation with Sasha can be found at www.mindfulheart.one Testimonials: ’This was the first time doing chanting and meditating and I felt included and supported.
