There is a concession available for this course for people: Under 25, over 65, or in full time unemployment. About the workshop -Enjoy the beauty of perfumed local low carbon roses at their seasonal peak in the UK. -Hear about how the modern unsustainable cut flower industry and what we can do about it. -Tour Hearts and Flowers' gardens and see some of the thirty different roses they grow. Learn about wild roses and how garden roses came to be. -Learn a little rose botany and chemistry - it's structure and aroma - how it seduces the bees. Meditate on and observe in detail the way a rose is, it's beauty. Then try your hand at some rose botanical art based on your new knowledge and insights Pick your own bunch of flowers to take home from the ivy, roses and other June flowers grown at Heart and Flowers. You can even choose to model them into a flower headdress. Lots of lovely picture opportunities! Your tutors Helen is a garden designer with extensive experience in botany. Rona believes that organic growing enhances well-being and will lead to a more sustainable flower trade. Together they founded Hearts and Flowers, an organic flower garden situated in the heart of beautiful Stanmer Organics, Stanmer Park, on the outskirts of Brighton.
