Singing mantras and meditation can ‘water the seeds' of presence and heart qualities such as love, compassion, kindness and joy. In singing a mantra to Green Tara we can connect with her loving attention and devotion to people across the world, with the Medicine Buddha we can wish those in pain be free from suffering, with Avalokiteshvara we can embrace the wisdom of the heart and in singing the Peace Prayer we can radiate the wish for all beings to be happy, free and in peace. Singing mantras can quiet the chatter of our busy minds and bring us more into stillness and spaciousness. As mantras are repetitive they are easily learnt. Each mantra will be introduced with a short explanation and will be accompanied by the harmonium. The workshop includes a guided body scan/deep relaxation meditation. You are welcome to attend, whatever your experience! Your tutor Sasha shares her practice of chanting Buddhist mantras she has learnt over the past 20 years, as well as some that she has composed herself. Meditation practice has been important throughout most of her life, she attended her first meditation retreat when she was 19. She is currently training as a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy teacher. She completed a Meditation Teacher Training with Martin Aylward in 2021.
