Description of Class
There is a concession available for this course for people: Under 25's, over 65's or in full time unemployment. Flash Fiction, broadly speaking, is a story told in under one thousand words. Sometimes as few as six. Small in stature, but large of heart, flash fiction leaves you thinking, it gifts you something to mull over for days, months, years to come. It’s similar to poems in this respect. During this course you’ll study examples of flash fiction and explore some of the common characteristics of the genre. In each session you’ll get time to draft your own stories by responding to specially designed writing prompts. There will be the option to share what you’ve written in class. Sharing your work is absolutely optional. This course, drawing on the playful and precise nature of flash fiction writing, will fire your imagination, spark new and unexpected story ideas, and help to hone your writing skills. What to Bring Pen/pencil and a notebook and/or a laptop. Your Tutor Anika Carpenter is a flash fiction author, workshop facilitator and artist based in Brighton.
