Description of Class

There is a concession available for this course for people: Under 25's, over 65's or in full time unemployment. About the course Forget children’s parties and circus clowns, this type of clowning provides a structured, safe space for adults to reconnect with their childlike playfulness and to explore the world through the wobbly lens of the clown. Clowns are transformative shapeshifters, honest, forgetful, easily confused naïfs who exist only in the now. They love to be seen, to explore and to play. Playfulness, presence, joy, laughter and deep connection with ourselves and others is at the heart of this work. Expect to play drama games, wear a red nose, dress up, laugh, invent and be in the present. No performance experience required.  Your tutor Sarah Davies is local drama practitioner, theatre-maker, teacher and director who has been exploring clowning for over two decades. She is part of an international clowning community which stretches from Senegal to Norway, throughout Europe and currently as far as Taiwan. [Please see Sarah's tutor bio for full details] Testimonials ‘The most gleeful and connective experience I’ve had for years.’ Sharon ‘An absolute tonic.’ Culann ‘One of the most joyous and mindful experiences I’ve had for a very long time. I laughed, played trusted and connected.’ Kaylee 'Well structured.  Large space.  Encouraging, open and skilled workshop leader.  Great resources, (Costumes, kitchen facilities).  Learned lots.  There were so many beautiful moments that I will treasure from the day.  And I was amazed and grateful to work with particapants who opened up so quickly and who were so supportive - what a lovely bunch!  This is a fantastic workshop and worth every penny.' ‘Sarah was an expert, confident, competent facilitator who gently steered us through the exercises to find our clowns. A fabulous way to spend a weekend. Utter joy.’ – JW 'Sarah the tutor held the space very well and gave very playful excercises and fun in a safe.  I enjoyed it all.'
