The Live Again Singing Project

Tutor: Melissa James
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next dates: Saturday 10 November 2018, 1:30pm - 5:00pm

A workshop to find the power in your voice through song.  Working without instrumental accompaniment but just a cappella, we will sing to engage better with our voices and with each other.  Building connections and strengthening our relationship to ourselves.  Asserting ourselves.  Focusing on the use of sound and music to enhance our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

A workshop for those who love to sing and for those who fear singing.  For the novice and for the experienced.  It is singing for joy and singing to heal.  We will chant, sing in harmony, sing songs of various styles and we will play with sounds and rhythms.  It is singing to strengthen.  Singing to let go.  Singing to enrich the soul.

About Melissa James

“Best current British blues singer I know…” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music

Melissa James is a singer/songwriter and performing artist who last year created a charitable music and mental health initiative called SING4SANE  (S4S).  The project combines the voices of a public anyone-is-welcome-to-join-in-choir with an aim to build positive awareness around mental health and connect people through their voices and song.  An S4S “big-sing-style” recording of Melissa’s song, “Live Again”  was made last summer at RAK Studios in London with a public choir singing backing vocals.  “Live Again” is now on release as a charity single with all sale proceeds going to the mental health charity SANE.  The Live Again Singing Project (LASP) is an evolvement of SING4SANE, encouraging singing for enjoyment and positive wellbeing; loss of inhibitions.  Making your voice heard.  Tapping into the power of the voice for better self-connection and connection to other.
