Arts and Body based Psychotherapy

with Catherine Rees. MA (UKCP accredited)

As an Arts and Body based Psychotherapist, I listen not just to your words and the feelings and impulses that arise through our working together, but also to sensations and images and to your body experience, which can reveal a truth beyond the limitations of language.

Sessions can vary, depending on need, interest and what presents itself, but all sessions will include some form of ‘tuning in’ to what’s happening in the body.

I have found the most important ingredient in therapy to be the relationship we create together, the building of trust that flows from feeling truly listened to in an atmosphere of deep acceptance. I aim to provide a safe, confidential and non judgemental space in which you can feel comfortable to explore whatever may be troubling you.

Who can benefit?

Psychotherapy can be supportive if:

• You are experiencing times of emotional stress and anxiety.

• You find yourself easily overwhelmed by life and its challenges.

• You feel tired, depressed or cut off from the aliveness within you.

• You want to deepen your connection with yourself and others.

• You are suffering from insomnia.

• You have particular relationship difficulties or are suffering from the effects of bereavement.

• You are suffering from a range of chronic illnesses- such as ME and digestive problems.

I also offer biodynamic massage, a specialist form of massage concerned with the integration of

all aspects of an individual- physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Adding bodywork to more

traditional psychotherapy works to release stress and tension stored in the body, as well as

breaking down the barriers and blocks in the mind.

Biodynamic massage may be offered to support a psychotherapeutic process, or can be enjoyed

as a treatment in its own right.

In an initial appointment, I will ask a little about your life and medical history, and we can decide

together which approach feels right of you. The work can be short or longer term, depending on the

issues you’d like to address.
