Writing Fiction Without a Plan

Tutor: Gary Mepsted
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next date: Saturday workshop 10 February 2018

When writing long-form fiction - novel or novella - it seems that the most logical and sensible approach is to have a clear idea of where you’re going. The notion of having a blueprint to guide, and support, the ‘building’ of your book would seem to be a prerequisite for a successful outcome.

This may well be true for some writers, but others, the bestselling crime writer, Elmore Leonard for example, made it up as he went along. This intensive, and stimulating, workshop will explore in depth writing fiction without the shackles of plotting, planning and prior research. If you’ve always instinctively recoiled at the idea of some literary itinerary and want to ‘take off’ sans map and guidebook, this is the workshop for you.
