Thai Massage
with James Sanford
Traditional Thai Massage is a 2500-year-old technique
for relaxing the body and quietening the mind. It can help to relieve
many physical problems such as back pain, tense shoulders and neck, stiffness,
poor posture, indigestion and sciatica as well as more mental problems
like stress and lethargy. The basic form of the massage is performed fully
clothed (no oils are used) on a mat on the floor. The technique involves
putting gentle but firm pressure on the body with the palms and thumbs,
as well as relaxing stretching of the limbs and back. This workshop will
give you a basic set of techniques, enabling you to give a Thai massage
about 45 minutes long, or incorporate new ideas and new approaches into
your existing treatment if you’re already a therapist. There will
be printed course notes included.
James is a full-time professional masseur. He has been practising Traditional
Thai Massage for four years with private clients, on retreats and at festivals.
He has a diploma from the Seven Star School of Traditional Thai Massage.
