Sing Out! A Singing Workshop for All

Tutor: Melissa James
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next dates: Saturday 17 February 2019, 1:30pm - 5:00pm

Melissa brings her passion and love for the voice and music to enthuse those who join her, lifting your confidence, hearts and voices.  Whether you are a regular singer or a rare singer; whether you are used to singing with others or prefer singing on your own –this workshop is open to all. You simply need to have a desire to want to try to bring-out the voice that resides within you and to connect it with the voices of others.

Chant, sing in harmony and make beautiful sounds perhaps in the style of folk songs, gospel, spirituals, pop, and blues. With the aim to feel joy in creating sound through song, and to better engage with your voice, prepare to feel elevated and inspired. Sing Out! is part of the #LiveAgain Project

About Melissa James

“Best current British blues singer I know…” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music

Melissa James is a singer/songwriter and performing artist who last year created a charitable music and mental health initiative called SING4SANE  (S4S).  The project combines the voices of a public anyone-is-welcome-to-join-in-choir with an aim to build positive awareness around mental health and connect people through their voices and song.  An S4S “big-sing-style” recording of Melissa’s song, “Live Again”  was made last summer at RAK Studios in London with a public choir singing backing vocals.  “Live Again” is now on release as a charity single with all sale proceeds going to the mental health charity SANE.  The Live Again Singing Project (LASP) is an evolvement of SING4SANE, encouraging singing for enjoyment and positive wellbeing; loss of inhibitions.  Making your voice heard.  Tapping into the power of the voice for better self-connection and connection to other.
