Meditative Movement

Tutor: Elise Phillips
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next date: Saturday 11 November 2017, 11am – 1pm

What does this workshop cover?

Create some time for yourself, leave busy thoughts and responsibilities at the door and find what feels good for your mind and body.

Mindfulness meditation has been proven to reduce anxiety and stress and helps the brain rest and digest our busy lives. If you’re new to meditation or want to find a way to maintain a mindful state as you go about your day, this workshop is for you.

We use simple guided tasks to go inward and find your inner calm, we check-in with how the body feels and gradually widen our awareness to include the space and people around us as we move.

Leave feeling calm, energised, open and grounded.

About the tutor

Elise is a Community Dance Artist and Producer based in Brighton. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma: Community Dance and BA (Hons) Psychology. Elise trained in contemporary dance at Laban Conservatoire of Dance and began Tribal Fusion training in 2008.

Elise regularly delivers dance classes and projects in community settings, with everyone from hobbyists to professionals, hard to reach young people to older adults with dementia. She is particularly interested in ways we can deepen our relationship with our bodies as well as the environment we live in. We all have bodies and exist in a place, yet we don’t often make time to consider how they feel or what they mean to us.
