Iyengar® Yoga works with precision, favouring safe practice and progression from simpler to more demanding poses. The practice draws the focus inwards and promotes concentration, well-being and physical and mental health. This course is for both beginners and continuing level students.
About the tutor
Jenny has been a practitioner of Iyengar® Yoga continuously all her adult life and helped establish the Brighton Natural Health Centre which opened for classes in 1989.
Jenny first began studying and practicing yoga in 1971 with a teacher who had herself been taught by Mr. BKS Iyengar. Between 1975 and 1977 Jenny attended a Yoga Teacher Training course in London which was conducted by Silva Mehta, one of Mr Iyengar's senior teachers and author of Yoga the Iyengar® Way.
In 1977 Jenny attended a one month intensive course at the Ramamani Iyengar® Yoga Institute in Pune, India. and later received her Iyengar Yoga Introductory Teacher's Certificate. Since then Jenny has made two further visits to India to study with Mr. BKS Iyengar, his daughter Geeta and his son Prashant. She has also studied with them and other senior teachers at conventions and workshops in the UK.
Jenny has more recently undertaken a further training and has obtained a Level One Intermediate Junior teaching certificate. She is a part of the IIYS which is the Institute for Iyengar® Yoga in Sussex and is accredited to teach by the IYA UK.
In addition to teaching Yoga, Jenny has a degree in psychology and is a practicing counsellor, accredited by BACP. For further information about Jenny please email jenny@jcm.co.uk
