Find the hero within
‘The Hero’s Journey’ was designed by Joseph Campbell, a Professor of Myth and Legend. By studying the stories of heroism in different traditions around the world, he discovered that the understanding of what a ‘hero’ is and what a ‘quest’ is are universal understandings. Campbell uncovered that the journey made by a hero is always the same, although the context may be different. Using his model, we can explore how our life’s journeys and activities form part of an overarching ‘quest’ in our lives. We can begin to map out where we are on our journey and how it fits into the model, helping us deal with change and become more resilient. The workshop will also explore how we can embody ‘heroic’ qualities that make our living and our challenges more fulfilling.
