How do I pay?

Online booking will be available through this site soon. You can use your credit or debit card by phone (01273 204204). Credit cards incur a £1 fee per course (debit cards are free). Alternatively you can call by in person with cash, cheque or card. Office hours are 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Please note that full payment must be made to secure a place on a course.

Who qualifies for concessions?

Evolution Arts tries to keep its prices as affordable as possible. Concessions on booking fees are available to:

  1. Full-time students
  2. Full-time unemployed
  3. OAPs

From 1st May we are no longer able to accept bookings at the concessionary rate without proof of eligibility. You should book in person at the Evolution office with proof of eligibility or by post with a photocopy of the relevant document. Click here for more information

Can I pay the concession rate online?

Unfortunately we are not able to take concession rate bookings online as we need to see proof of concession status. please book using your credit or debit card by phone (01273 204204) or call by in person with cash, cheque or card.

Do you run classes on bank holidays and half terms?

Bank Holidays - If your course is on a Monday, it should be assumed that it will take place on a bank holiday unless otherwise specified by the tutor at the start of the term.

Half Term - Evolution does not have an official half-term break. Some courses may have a mid-term break, however. This is usually arranged with the course participants at the first session.

What if I need to cancel my course?

If you cancel a course/workshop more than six days before it starts you will receive a full refund (less £5 admin charge). If you make a cancellation less than seven days before the start of a course/workshop (including after the course has started) Evolution will not be able to offer you a refund or transfer you to another course. However, if there are exceptional circumstances, we will consider requests in writing (emails to info@evolutionarts.org.uk are acceptable). If you are prevented from attending a course for medical reasons we will also require a medical certificate. Please bear in mind that Evolution Arts is a registered charity (no. 1133828), and to operate successfully it is important that we adhere to this policy.

What happens if I miss a class?

Missing a class is a shame for you but should not affect your course too much. Ideally we would like to know if you are going to miss a class so we can inform your tutor.

What do I need to wear?

For yoga classes wear loose, comfortable clothing. For arts classes, including painting, pottery, stained glass and drawing, wear scruffy old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

What do I need to bring to my class?

Each course description will include a materials list if applicable or suggestions of what to bring in the main course text.

What should I do about lunch on a weekend workshop?

During the course of a day workshop there will be a number of breaks including tea breaks where hot drinks and biscuits will be available and a lunch break which you will need to bring your own food for. There are plenty of shops and cafes nearby if you need to buy food on the day.

Can I park near the venue?

It is recommended that you travel to Brighton by train or bus, as parking in the vicinity of Evolution is increasingly difficult. If you need to drive, it is best to park either in the Regency Square car park, just off the sea front, or park in Hove and get one of the many buses traveling along the Western Road towards Churchill Square. I'm a beginner – is this class suitable?

The large majority of our courses and workshops are suitable for beginners. Each course description indicates whether or not it is. If you would like further information you can all the Evolution Team on 01273 204204.

What if I'm pregnant?

Not all of our yoga and dance classes are suitable for pregnant women, especially if you are in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy. If you are pregnant please let us know before booking. If you are pregnant and concerned about working with lead in the Stained Glass course, please consult you doctor before enrolling.

Can I contact my tutor?

On rare occasions tutors may decide to give out their personal information to students, but as a rule all correspondence needs to come via the evolution office. If you have a question for your tutor or you need to inform them that you will be absent, please email info@evolutionarts.org.uk and the team will be happy to pass on your message.

Is it possible to hire studio space?

Our main studio (£20 per hr) and art room (£15 per hr) have availability for hire Monday - Friday during the day and Saturday afternoons. Booking fees are payable in advance and cancellations less than 4 weeks in advance will be subject to a charge. We also have a meeting room and therapy room available (rate varies according to purpose). How do I donate?

Currently you can make donations when you book courses by adding an extra donation amount to your total course fee. Alternatively you can make donations over the phone by calling 01273 204204. Soon you will be able to donate easily using this website. If you are a UK tax payer please let us know so that we can reclaim gift aid.

What happens to donations?

Donations will go into a fund which will be available to people experience financial hardship and wishing to attend a course or workshop at a significantly reduced rate. In some cases we will be able to offer places at no charge.

How can I join the mailing list?

Simply ring or email the team on 01273 204204 or at info@evolutionarts.org.uk and they will add you to our database. Soon you will be able to join via this website.
