Instead comedy is created in the moment: a playful and liberating experience, which is both very funny and helpful for overcoming creative blocks.

The Maydays are an improv comedy company who perform and teach in Brighton and beyond. They were recently awarded the Latest ‘Best Comedy Show’ Award in the Brighton Fringe. Each course will be taught by two members of the Maydays.

Level 2

This course is suitable for anyone who has attended Level 1 Creative Comedy or who regularly attends John Cremer’s Comedy Improv drop-in class. Building
on the foundations of Level 1, we will look in more depth at character, object work and building scenes. We will also offer more specific feedback and side-coaching to enable students to identify their individual requirements and to develop further as
an improviser, both in class or as a performer.

This course aims to develop the techniques and confidence to enable students to perform improv, and is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to those with some acting or comedy experience.

Improv and Song

Join members of the Maydays, Brighton’s Improv Comedy Company, learning how to improvise comedy songs for fun and performance. Each week a company member and a musician will guide you through exercises to explore song structure, rhyme, rhythm and making up your own songs from audience suggestions. The course is suitable for anyone who has done the Creative Comedy Level One, the Foundation weekend or regularly (and recently) attended other appropriate improv comedy training to a similar level.

The Maydays Improv Comedy Company

The Maydays regularly perform ‘Mayday! The Musical’, for which they won the Latest 7 Best Comedy Show award in the 2007 Brighton Festival.
