Attentive Improvisation

Tutor: Elise Phillips
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next date: Saturday 6th May 2017, 11am – 1pm

What does this workshop cover?

Find what feels good for your body, tap into your creative voice, perhaps you’ll end up somewhere you didn’t expect.

Starting from the truest starting point – you, this meditative movement workshop is time for you to check-in with your body, how it feels and how to trust your intuition.

We will explore our internal landscapes (our breath, muscles, joints, weight) through guided improvisation. We’ll then take that attention to our external landscape (the people and space around us) and dance as a group.

About the tutor

Elise is a Community Dance Artist and Producer based in Brighton. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma: Community Dance and BA (Hons) Psychology. Elise trained in contemporary dance at Laban Conservatoire of Dance and began Tribal Fusion training in 2008.

Elise regularly delivers dance classes and projects in community settings, with everyone from hobbyists to professionals, hard to reach young people to older adults with dementia. She is particularly interested in ways we can deepen our relationship with our bodies as well as the environment we live in. We all have bodies and exist in a place, yet we don’t often make time to consider how they feel or what they mean to us.
