Indian Head Massage

This holistic therapy originates from the ancient Ayurvedic medicine practised in India for thousands of years to balance the mind, body and spirit, as well as promote longevity. The techniques used in Indian Head Massage, in the present day, originate from these traditional methods.  The full treatment massages the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and face.

Indian Head Massage aims to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms.  It aids circulation and the elimination of toxins and waste products. The treatment also helps to balance the three higher chakras (centres of spinning energy) situated at the throat, forehead and crown of the head.  Stagnant energy can be released, helping to restore the flow around the body and harmonizing the mind, body and spirit.

Treatment

Indian Head Massage is a complete treatment in itself, which most people find very therapeutic.  It is a relaxing, though energizing experience which is very pleasurable and induces an overall feeling of well-being. The massage is most effective when using oils which have therapeutic and nourishing effects on the skin, hair and scalp.

The session begins with a consultation covering general health, lifestyle and any specific symptoms or problems. After visualizing and balancing the three higher chakras, oil is applied to the upper body and hair. The massage can also be done ‘dry’, through clothing if preferred. Various techniques are used of differing pace and pressure, which will be a mixture of relaxing and stimulating movements, tailored to each individual’s needs and preference.  The areas worked are specifically aimed at those where stress and tension are often held, concentrating on any particular problem areas. The treatment ends with a relaxing face massage and revisualisation of the chakras.

All products used in the treatment are free from animal products and have not been tested on animals, so are suitable for vegans.

Leila Randall IIHHT MHAO

A holistic approach to any form of dis-ease, be it physical or emotional has always been prevalent in my lifestyle.  Understanding the necessity of this attitude prompted me to investigate Complementary Therapies. I qualified in Indian Head Massage in 2005 and have a working knowledge of Bach Flower remedies. I often recommend them in conjunction with a course of treatment as they can assist with the healing process. I’m also trained in Reflexology, Advanced Reflexology and Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT), Ear Candling, Animal Healing and Canine Massage. Whilst raising my children, I have practised part time since qualifying in various locations as well as providing a mobile service.
