Hatha Yoga Course

Tutor: Lynne Jarrett
Location: Evolution Arts, 2 Sillwood Terrace, Brighton BN1 2LR
Next start date: Monday 08 May 2017

This energising course will improve strength and flexibility over the weeks. The physical asana practise maintains great focus on the breath, encouraging a deep connection between mind and body, which is one of the many benefits of a regular yoga practise. Yoga is such a great way to improve your overall health and signing up to a weekly course will help you to create a long term yoga habit.

What does this course cover?

Through a dynamic and varied practice, we will improve strength and flexibility . Sun salutations are an excellent way to improve physical and mental wellbeing as they incorporate asana (physical postures) and Pranayama (breathing), and these will form a regular part of the yoga. They are also an excellent way of preparing the body for a sequence of standing postures and balances. The strong standing sequences will become increasingly steady and comfortable with each session as we learn to bring our breathing into every aspect of the postures.  At the heart of our practice is always the breath. Learning to inhale and exhale calmly in and out of postures, especially those that are more physically demanding, will encourage steadiness of body and mind. Each week we will be developing our pranayama practise, so that the whole class increasingly takes on a meditative quality and therefore enhancing the benefits of our yoga. The sessions will close with a meditation and relaxation to restore and stimulate your body's energy levels.
