Do you like to travel? Do you like to write? Then this stimulating and practical workshop shows you how to combine the two and release your inner travel writer. Whether it’s travel writing for pleasure or profit, award-winning travel journalist and author Bob Maddams will show you how to structure your travel experiences into compelling narratives, and shares the professional techniques that world famous travel writers like Bill Bryson and Paul Theroux use in their writing. The workshop covers article writing for newspapers and magazines, travel blogs and even self-published books. No previous experience necessary, just a love of seeing the world, and words, are all that’s required.

Bob Maddams

Bob is an award-winning freelance travel journalist and has written for The Guardian, The Observer, The Times, The Sunday Telegraph as well as Wanderlust and various other specialist travel magazines and websites.

Bob attended the National Film & Television School, has directed TV commercials and as a self-shooting director/producer has made documentaries for National Geographic TV and Animal Planet. He also spent 7 years living in Ethiopia where he taught in a community film school.  

Bob is also a City & Guilds qualified media skills trainer and has taught at Hove College and gives guest workshops at the University of Sussex Business School.
